The event

The Gran Fondo Ézaro is a massive popular cycling event that takes place in the incomparable Costa da Morte, in Galicia (Spain). An incredible landscape, first order cultural and heritage values and a spectacular and demanding route make this a unique event.   The race runs through the municipalities of Dumbría, Muxía, Muros, Cee, Carnota and Mazaricos, in the heart of Costa da Morte, which accompanies the racer with beautiful landscapes and hard climbs. Most daring participants can choose the long route, of almost 150 kilometers, while those who want to live a shorter version may opt for the short route, with about 80 kilometers.
The objective participants of the Gran Fondo Ézaro are a select type of cycling practitioners, because of the characteristics of the test, that requires an adequate physical condition, which implies constant preparation, dedication and effort.
A demanding route, with end in the mythical ‘wall’ of the Mirador de Ézaro, is added to the natural environment, the values that the organization promotes and the name that, with the successes harvested and the endorsement of the UCI, has got de event, attracting sportsman from all over Spain and abroad and stars of this sport.

Alex Zülle and Tony Rominger relived their struggle on the Galician roads of the Costa da Morte, as they had already done in La Vuelta a España in 1993.

Completing the beautiful route along the roads of A Costa da Morte and the climb to Ézaro, which has already been exhibited in the Tour of Spain, is a success.

Chiappucci and Indurain meet again in Gran Fondo Ézaro.
